I took this photo from the summit of Mount Jackson on a cold but remarkably calm winter evening in the White Mountains. Mount Jackson has a beautiful view of the southern Presidential Range including Mounts Pierce, Eisenhower, Monroe, and dominating the scene: Mount Washington.

Although the summits were socked in with fog when I was driving to the trailhead, by the time we got to the summit just before sunset the fog had cleared and we were treated to this beautiful view of the frosty snow and trees in the foreground with the sunlight glowing on the Presidential Range in the background.
