I captured this image while descending the Bubbles Divide Trail after photographing sunrise from the Bubbles summit. The trail winds through a stunning birch and maple forest where the October light filtered beautifully through the peak autumn foliage, creating this golden canopy overhead. The path meanders between Acadia’s characteristic moss-covered granite boulders, with the forest floor carpeted in freshly fallen leaves. After the expansive views from the summit, I found this intimate woodland scene equally compelling - there’s something special about these quiet moments walking through the heart of the forest on the way back to Jordan Pond. The soft morning light transformed an ordinary section of trail into something magical, showcasing a different but equally beautiful side of Acadia’s autumn landscape.
