One of my favorite parts of the Franconia Ridge Loop is the climb up Old Bridle Path along the ridge that ascends to Greenleaf Hut. On this frigid morning in November, several weeks of cold and snow had blanketed the trees on the side of Mount Lafayette with snow. I was actually descending the trail after a sunrise summit attempt when I noticed this bluff with a set of small animal tracks marking the only blemish in the snow. As I stopped to take a photo, the sun burst through a break in the clouds along the ridge to perfectly illuminate the ridgeline above me.
