Early Snow Alpenglow on Mount Washington

I love the first snowfall of the winter season. The contrast between the snow on the peaks and the valleys still in stick season is great and somehow the sunsets seem to be more vibrant and colorful at the beginning of winter. I took this photo in early November from an overlook north of Franconia Notch looking across the Twin Mountain area at the Presidential Range. As the sun set behind me, the sky to the east glowed a brilliant peachy orange color and the snow on the top of the Presidential Range caught the light as well.
