A frozen salt marsh at Bass Hole covered in ice and snow creates winding channels and textured patterns across the landscape, with a soft pink and blue sunset sky reflected in the icy terrain stretching toward the distant shoreline.

We’ve had a great winter on Cape Cod this year - and by that I mean lots of snow and weeks of below freezing temperatures. It’s been so cold for so long that the beaches and marshes on the bay side have started to freeze up solid. I took this photo from the Bass Hole Boardwalk looking west towards the sunset. The marsh is choked with ice and completely frozen and the boardwalk was deserted. I dramatically prefer this experience to a humid, crowded, and buggy sunset in the middle of July!
