Cape Cod Beach Rose Sunset
This spot in Chatham has quickly become one of my favorite beach sunset spots on the Cape. I love the dune fencing and the old lifesaving shack as objects to add more interest to the classic Cape Cod beach scene. I visited on New Year’s Day when the beach was covered in snow and ice and saw a beautiful winter sunset. I knew I would have to return in the summer when the rosa rugosa, or beach roses, were blooming. This evening in early June had a beautiful early sunset there the sky slowly started to glow orange and pink from the horizon up and the wind wasn’t rocking the beach roses too badly.
After the sun officially set below the horizon, this sunset became a lot more dramatic in the sky to the north behind the beach roses. You can see that photo here: Fiery Summer Sunset in Chatham.
You can also see my photo from a much colder and snowier sunset at this same beach on New Year’s Day here: Chatham’s First Sunset of 2026.
